So far the cabel whispers and the eye of the orcle is all connected to necromancy. As a neopagan for more then 10 years i had my doubts but seeing on youtube how he was able to summon spirits and you can see orbs. What got me hooked is he says you can still use his work for good becuse the whole dark side is not my thing.

Reeves fans must read

Larry Jordan paints a complex portrait of an extremely talented and gifted, yet flawed man in Jim Reeves His Untold Story. In a book I've waited the better part of my life for, Jordan has given Reeves fans a complete picture showing Reeves as the Gentleman for which he earned the nickname, as the great musical talent he was, and as an all-too-human man hampered by self doubt, a sometimes hot temper, and an inability to remain faithful to one woman. Jordan's book shows us the life that Gentleman Jim lived including the many doubts and insecurities that plagued him despite the success and adoration that came his way. While some might think that exposing the reader to Reeves' human flaws would damage the place he has held in his many fans' hearts, I find that seeing him as the human being he was only enhances my appreciation of the incredible musical legacy he created. Too many times we only see the image created by marketing specialists and the media leading us to place these stars on a pedestal and when their human failings become evident it devastates the spotless image we have created in their mind. Jordan shows us that stardom and the hectic pace required of a country star - constant tours, traveling and performing that took its toll on Reeves and just like many other celebrities. How Reeves dealt with the loneliness, fatigue, and doubt, brought on by the demands of life as a country music star, while not always admirable, can be understood when one looks at the big picture. Reeves was like any one of us with many good traits and some not so admirable. Jordan leaves us with a portrait of a man with an incredible talent who did his best to treat his family, friends, and fans with kindness and respect, while not always succeeding.

The book also provides the reader with the most complete account to date of the events leading up to the plane crash in 1964 that silenced it and the many puzzling circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Jordan also details the heartbreaking account of Reeves' widow, Mary's, later years and the injustice done to Gentleman Jim's legacy by those trying to make a fast buck off of the rights to his recording royalties and memorabilia.

While Jim Reeves His Untold Story shows us the human side of the "greatest voice in county music", it also gives the reader the stories behind many of Reeves' recordings and places the songs into the context of what was happening at the time in Reeves' life. This factor alone mandates a second reading of the book in tandem with a re-exploration of these many beautiful songs, not only to listen again to that golden baritone, but to hear the lyrics in a new light with new meaning. I know that on my first reading, while my desire to read the book kept me reading, the level of detail and a sense of dread at reaching the end, which meant not only the end of the book, but Reeves' death checked my speed at completing the book. Jordan is to be commended on the time and the love he put into this biography. Anyone who loves Gentleman Jim and his music must read this book. He or she will come away with a greater appreciation of the man and his music.

I have read many biographies on singers and own many and I found this the best one I have read! It was a book I could not put down. My library had it and I enjoyed it so much, I bought a copy for my own library at home.
I liked the way the author had the pictures in with the narrative. I felt like I was there living that time period. This author showed he had done a lot of research and I learned a lot about Jim Reeves. I enjoyed this book so much and have told my friends to read this book. A must read for fans of Jim Reeves.

The Best Book Ever Written About Jim Reeves

Simply put, I was blown away with this book. Having published more than 20+ books myself, including biographies of Melvin Belli, Thomas Merton, Jonathan Pollard, Mike Tyson and former Hitler Youth leader Ursula Martens as well as "The Poison Patriarch" about the JFK assassination, I am most impressed with not only the incredible amount of research done about Mr. Reeves' life but also how the author permits a reader like me to feel as if he is experiencing the famous singer's defining moments as they happen. Best of all, the author debunks many of the myths surrounding Mr. Reeves' life and perhaps as important, his unfortunate death. We therefore get a clear picture based on fact, not fiction, including how Mr. Reeves rose from being an unknown to the top of his profession as a singer who thrilled listeners around the world with his magical stories. The author is certainly correct that Mr. Reeves was "velvet voiced" and this important biography is a true keepsake for anyone who loved his music as I do.

I bought the kindle version of this book because the physical version was either $124 (no way am I paying that) or sold out. I needed this for class. Giving only 2 stars because I paid the same price for the kindle version as I would have for the physical version but all through the book figures and images are missing due to "copyright restrictions". I PAID FOR THE BOOK.

TOTAL RIP OFF.

Now I'm going to have to shell out ANOTHER $70 bucks so I can get the rest of the information.

Introduction to Environmental Health

Essentials of Environmental Health served as a good introductory book for learning the basics of environmental health in my university level Introduction to Environmental Health class. With topics including air pollution, water quality, pesticides, and the recent increased focus on occupational health, this book provided helpful definitions, diagrams, models, and theories on the wide array of topics included within. Although you will want to obtain books that focus more specifically on issues such as food safety or Zoonotic diseases, or even the most recent available research, I would not pass up this book for learning the basics and/or background of some of these topics.

Abysmal graphics and rather cursory coverage of many topics

This book contains numerous black-and-white photographs, tables, diagrams and text boxes of such low quality that reading a single chapter is enough to give you a headache. There is a great deal of interesting anecdotal information. However, this is at the expense of directly relevant factual information and technical details that are included in other environmental health texts.

An amazing work but nothing particularlly new

This is a great read--less heavy handed than Being and Event while still striking deep at core issues. It is also much shorter and easier to digest than some of Badiou's other works. I read this for a political philosophy class and really enjoyed it for its ability to get everyone talking.

This makes for a great companion to his other works but does reuse some ideas that he has already stated. For me it was what hooked me on Badiou.

Alain Badiou has published on the epistemic foundation of an event and presents himself in this book not so much as a philosopher of modal logic and set theory but as an intellectual in the tradition of Critical Theory. "Polemics" shows his engagement in down-to-earth-politics and the philosophical background he comes from is always present in his analyses. It is a joy to read theses essays. They are dense and precise in analysis.

Enjoyable and highly recommended

Renard always has written megabrats, and the Kid is certainly no exception. Dressed and taught to act like a boy, trained from early childhood in frontier villainy, and used to the freedom that comes of being thought male in a male-dominated world, the Kid is much more than a handful for Sheriff Bill. Luckily, the sheriff also is used to getting his own way, and he spares no effort, nor any strap leather, neither, in showing the Kid the error of her ways. It's not all smacks and howls, though. Loki tells a very good, very romantic story here, while commenting on life, the universe, and everything, including theology, philosophy, and societal gender norms. Overall, a most enjoyable read and highly recommended.

Sweet, romantic and so much more

This is a sweet story but this is also one deep story. Another review is right to mention philosophical themes and thoughts on gender norms. No worries though, Loki manages to bring important topics to the table through witty dialog and fast-paced action, neverpreaching to her readers.
She lets us see for ourselves and get to know the protagonists slowly. Of course I thought The kid was absolutely adorable from the very beginning but one loves the characters even more as the story unfolds.
You will laugh, you will shed a tear or two and you will have a silly grin on your face by the time you finish. Definately worth a read.

My one complaint is that this book is extremely short for the price, I finished it in two hours. But that being said, it is a really sweet old west story with a touch of romantic, a touch of discipline and a gutsy heroine and a lawman with a heart.
