A HIDDEN GEM

This poor chap doesn't get the credit he truly deserves. I've read many books on finding the 'truth'. Gave up on the basic ridiculous religious doctrine of one god, the creator/dictator stuff long time ago. Dove deeply into Bhuddism/Zen for a long time but it never quite answered my questions. Then came across J. Krishnamurti (not UG) and he shook my tree of belief in all religions/philosophies/ideologies as basically groundless (including Zen) but somewhere in a small corner, JK still brewed this sense of romanticizm/ 'love'/choiceless awareness as the final answer to nirvana/'happily ever after' dream I'd been searching for -- but honestly his stuff fizzled as well. Then came along this guy, UG Krishnamurti, who initially seemed like a lunatic, angry, 'pissed at the whole world' old man; but I must say after reading few of his books and watching many of his youtube videos, he seems to say what really makes far more realistic sense than anything I've ever read or viewed before. He's not pleasant, won't make you feel 'lovey/dubby'...he's no Deepak Chopra or any of the other clowns who make you feel good by saying things you want to hear. He cuts it right through. His basic teaching (though he hates the word 'teaching') from what I gather is: When it comes to ever lasting happiness, the real problem is not that we can't find the right answer (like thousands of 'religious and non-religious gurus' have tried to sell us over the centuries); it's our demand/expectation that there be such an answer, instilled/'brainwashed' into our psychic via society/culture. If we were to drop that demand, we'll still never get the answers but the questions won't arise either. He's a little difficult to understand b/c his stuff goes totally opposite and challenges what we've been brainwashed/conditioned from society. But if given a true chance, his teachings (which he himself calls 'dog barking') are extraordinary and priceless!!

About the Author
Chris McMullen is a physics instructor at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He earned his Ph.D. in phenomenological high-energy physics (particle physics) from Oklahoma State University in 2002. Originally from California, he earned his Master's degree from California State University, Northridge, where his thesis was in the field of electron spin resonance. He has published several papers on the prospects for discovering large superstring-inspired extra dimensions at the Large Hadron Collider. Dr. McMullen taught a special thermodynamics course geared toward advanced students, which combined the usual third-semester calculus-based introduction to thermal physics together with the more advanced formulation of equilibrium thermodynamics. From this, he observed the disparity between the two approaches, and developed this textbook to help bring them together in a more unified way.

Amazing Book

This is an amazing book. History is interwoven with so many intimate cultural details in such a way that you know the author must be completely familiar with the Arab and Western cultures. I especially benefited from the "red flag" issues or themes that were reinforced through each major period of history. Although this is in no way a Christian themed writing, being a Christian myself, I could not help but think of the prophecy in Genesis 16:12 as I was reading the book.

This is a really great book in better understanding the "Arab Psyche." This book gives readers a better understanding of the emotions and perceptions of Arabs. The author also does a great job at adding historical events that shaped the Middle East and are vital in its understanding. Overall, great book!

Although "Information Engineering" is out of fashion, the philosophy and general approach remains extremely relevant today.

If you are starting in IT Strategy or Architecture, read this biik first and then go on to Edwin Tozer's book on Strategy for IT/IS to fill in the blanks on techniques.
